A Guide to Getting Rid of Fleas on the Carpet
There is nothing quite as annoying and embarrassing as fleas jumping out of your carpet. Getting rid of them can be a daunting task. In addition to these, chemical fogs or sprays made to kill fleas are unsafe to humans and all pets. However, there is a way to eliminate such pests without risking you and your family’s health.
When cleaning the carpet, make sure to vacuum thoroughly and more often, because fleas in various stages of development could already be living there. Dispose then your vacuum bag in a secured plastic trash bag. You can also opt to add borax or diatomaceous earth (DE) to the bag to remove the insects.
Next, sprinkle your carpet with salt. Allow it to sit for about a day before you vacuum it up. Make sure to include the parts of your floor covering that is under and behind the furniture. If the organisms making their home in your carpeting prove to be stubborn, dust some DE directly on the fabric’s surface. Remember to wear eye protection when you do so.
